Naturescaping / Gardening for Nature & Hands-On Learning

Date: Sat, 04/06/2019 - 10:00am to 1:00pm

There is a big plus to naturescaping or even having a small butterfly garden around the school campus.  The youth have the opportunity to be engaged with hands-on activities, data collecting and science notebooking.  Adding attractive native plants to the school landscape will help provide valuable habitat for songbirds, butterflies, hummingbirds and vital pollinators.  We will cover the basics of naturescaping and give all the background information needed for butterfly plots, monarch conservation, hummingbird gardens ...

Discover Nature Schools curriculum will be introduced and activities mentioned that dove-tail activities with backyard or schoolyard conservation efforts.  The class is free, to register call the Joplin MDC Office 417-629-3423 or E-mail Jeff Cantrell, jeff.cantrell@mdc.mo.gov
