The Missouri Department of Conservation's Discover Nature Schools (DNS) program includes science units that utilize a student-centered and hands-on approach to learning about Missouri's ecosystems. This workshop will cover the Nature Unfolds Instructional Unit for grades K-2, and the Nature Unleashed Instructional Unit for grades 3-5. These units are correlated to both the Missouri Learning Standards and Next Generation Science Standards and are designed to meet teachers' curricular goals and objectives. During this training, teachers will become familiar with the teacher and student materials, and outdoor, experiential education techniques. Details of how to participate in the DNS grant program to fund science equipment, educational landscaping, and field experience transportation will also be covered. Teachers will become certified to receive DNS grant funds for their schools. All materials will be provided during the workshop.
