Teacher Workshops

Discover Nature Schools (DNS) lessons engage students through hands-on, outside activities. Students look forward to these lessons, and over a third of teachers report a decrease in student behavior issues on the days they taught DNS.

After using the DNS program, a teacher said, “I have never had a class as excited about learning science as the one I have taught this year using this curriculum.” Another teacher said, “As a teacher and Missouri taxpayer, I think that the Department of Conservation and all of the educational support it provides is, by far, the best use of my tax dollars.”

Not only are students excited about the program, but they are also learning and retaining information. Students’ test scores improved by 25 percent while using the DNS program.

Attend a DNS workshop to receive training on how to improve conservation education in your Missouri classroom, home-school class, or youth group. Learn how to incorporate our DNS curriculum in your lessons for students ranging from Pre-K to 12th grade, and find out how to apply for grants.
