About this Area

Total Acres
78.6

The 78 acre McPike Access was purchased for use as a public fishing access in November 1994. This area provides good bank and wade fishing opportunities.

McPike Access is named for the McPike family which was among the first settlers in this area. Members of this respected family were leaders in the community and included farmers, doctors, lawyers, judges, and legislators. The McPike family played a major role in the development of the local community and Marion County.

Troublesome Creek is classified as a high quality, prairie headwater stream and is one of the best examples of this stream type remaining in north Missouri. McPike Access is the only Department area on this unique stream.
