The Claire Gempp Davidson Memorial Conservation Area was conveyed to the Missouri Department of Conservation in 1992 under the will of Marjorie Elizabeth Gempp in memory of her sister Claire who died at age 26. The site serves as a wildlife area for the public in urban St. Louis County and an outdoor classroom for area students. The area is leased by MDC to the City of Sunset Hills. The City has an agreement with the Lindbergh School District for its use to educate students.
