Walk-in (all ages) Join us for a day of learning about the wide variety of native plants that can suit your landscaping needs. You will learn about and make a "seed ball" to get an easy head start on planting native seeds of grasses and flowers. You can also learn about native trees and how they can add long-lasting value and beauty to your landscape. We will be giving away free native plant and tree seedlings for you to take home and plant. We will offer guided landscape tours along with opportunities to ask experts for advice on how to improve your landscape with native plants. There will activities for the whole family!

Walk-in (all ages) The Missouri Prairie Foundation (MPF) will be on site to offer a native plant sale. Grow Native! vendors will be on hand with a wide selection of native flowers, grasses, sedges, shrubs and trees for a variety of growing conditions. Vendors will contribute a percentage of plant sale proceeds to benefit MPF's prairie conservation in Missouri. They have moist skin; no claws and they lay eggs in the water. They’re Amphibians! Frogs, toads and salamanders display wonderful adaptations to living their lives both in and out of the water. Hop in and splash around as we uncover these cold-blooded critters.

Walk the trail to answer trivia questions or to just enjoy a nice spring day. Stop by the classroom to make and take a fish-related craft. Enjoy a nature film in the auditorium or sit and watch the birds at our bird viewing area. There’s something for everyone at the nature center. Youth and adult groups welcome.

Come spend a beautiful spring afternoon hiking in Rockwoods Reservation. We should be able to see and identify many native wildflowers. You will also see how “Wise Use” over the past 81 years has transformed Rockwoods into a wonderful place.

Red, orange, yellow, and pink. Flowers come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. We’ll learn how flowers grow, what a flower is, and we’ll take a stroll to find some. Ages 0-2.

Dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes.
Bring water, a snack, and any comfort items.
Held rain or shine. If cancelled due to severe weather, participants will be called 1 hour prior to leaving. Hike and transportation from the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center is free.
