Archery is the skill of using a bow to propel arrows. It can be used in hunting, but is also a competitive sport and recreational activity. Nearly everyone — regardless of age, size, or physical ability — can succeed at archery.

Location: August A Busch Shooting Range

This program will teach the fundamentals of archery and atlatl including equipment, safety, stance, and shooting techniques. We will begin in the classroom and then we will move to the static archery range for live fire. All equipment will be provided.

Join our instructors as we learn the fundamentals of shooting the compound bow and arrow. This program begins in the Education Center then moves to the static archery range. This is a fun program for the entire family.

Date: Saturday, June 22, 2019 - 8:30am to 11:30am

Location: Andy Dalton Shooting Range

Advance your knowledge of shooting and hunting with your crossbow, safely and effectively. We will cover nomenclature of the crossbow, hand placement, stance, loading and drawing of string. We will also cover the optics, care and cleaning and storage. The difference between bolts and arrows, practice points versus hunting points. We will shoot on the static and 3-D range. Youth under 15 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Johnson Static Archery Range located at the August A Busch Shooting Range and Outdoor Education Center. The class will be held outdoors so please dress for the weather. Ages 9 and up, participants 9-15 must be accompanied by an adult.

Registration required beginning June 1 (adults) Remember shooting a bow and arrow at summer camp as a kid? The comradery of shooting with friends and challenging each other to hit the bullseye? Bring your friends and relive the fun as you learn the basics of shooting a compound bow. There will be plenty of time for shooting and some fun games for those who want to challenge their friends.

Location: Twin Pines Conservation Education Center

This will be a women's only program in beginner archery and crossbow. We will cover nomenclature, shooting techniques, safety and maintenance. This program will include actual shooting experience at bulls eye and 3D targets. No open toed shoes allowed. All equipment will be provided.

Discover the basics of archery shooting. We will cover things like bow nomenclature, hand set, bow set, pre-draw, stance, and much more and then go shooting on the static archery range. You may bring your own bow to the program or use ours.
