Archery is the skill of using a bow to propel arrows. It can be used in hunting, but is also a competitive sport and recreational activity. Nearly everyone — regardless of age, size, or physical ability — can succeed at archery.

Register by August 21

Date: Thursday, August 22, 2019 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Location: Parma Woods Shooting Range

The crossbow is not a new technology, but it is a very effective hunting tool that can now be utilized by nearly anyone who would like to give crossbow hunting a try. This class is designed to complement the growing trend of crossbow use. Our instructors will provide some basic safety instruction, crossbow facts, and give everyone a chance to try a crossbow.

Date: Monday, August 26, 2019 - 5:30pm to 7:30pm

Location: August A Busch Shooting Range

This program will teach the fundamentals of archery and atlatl, including equipment, safety, stance, and shooting techniques. We begin in the classroom and then we will move to the static archery range for some live fire. All equipment will be provided.

Register by August 31

Date: Saturday, August 31, 2019 - 8:30am to 11:30am

Location: Andy Dalton Shooting Range

Discover the basics of archery shooting. We will cover things like bow nomenclature, hand set, bow set, pre-draw, stance, and much more and then go shooting on the static archery range. You may bring your own bow to the program or use ours.

Location: Burr Oak Woods Conservation Nature Center

Registration required (families with children ages 8+)
Archery and bow hunting are increasing in popularity! Discover the fun of this family activity as parents and kids learn the basics together. We will help you to improve your stance to shoot more consistently and accurately. The program is presented at the W. Robert Aylward Educational Pond.

Be right on target! Try your hand at archery and experience a fun way to enjoy the outdoors. All archery equipment will be provided. For ages 9 and up, but adult supervision is required for ages 9-17.
