Archery is the skill of using a bow to propel arrows. It can be used in hunting, but is also a competitive sport and recreational activity. Nearly everyone — regardless of age, size, or physical ability — can succeed at archery.

Archery is a fun, lifetime sport that all can enjoy. Learn the basics of archery and how to shoot safely, then practice your newly learned skills under the supervision of MDC staff. Dress for the weather in closed-toe shoes. All equipment is provided. Registration required. Ages 7+
Note: Runge's outdoor range may not be accessible to participants who use a wheelchair or crutches. Please check for availability of an all-terrain wheelchair by contacting the program instructor at least two weeks in advance of the program date.
Join us at Shenandoah Elementary School to learn about the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP). NASP is a national program that teaches Olympic-style target archery to students in grades 4-12.
Visitors will have the chance to view the archery range layout and equipment, visit with MDC staff regarding implementation and equipment grants, and hear from teachers and students who participate in MoNASP.
Participants can come and go anytime during the event.
Participants will experience Shotgun Shooting, Patterning, Archery., Pellet guns, Hunting Techniques and Safety and Fishing (weather permitting)

Join our instructors as we learn the fundamentals of shooting archery. This program begins in the Education Center then moves to the static archery range. This is a fun program for the entire family, ages 9 and up
Join us as we learn the basics of how to safely shoot a crossbow. Meet at the Runge outdoor pavilion before heading to the Runge outdoor range. Dress for the weather in closed-toe shoes. All equipment is provided. Registration required. Ages 12+

Are you someone that has never shot a bow and arrow before and you’re not sure how to get started? Or maybe you did when you were young, but never pursued the activity any further. Learn the basics of shooting the bow and arrow utilizing some of the techniques and methods that have been adopted by the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP). This course is for those 10 years of age or older with the desire to shoot a bow and arrow but have little or no experience. Note: All equipment will be provided by the Missouri Department of Conservation. Not recommended for adults with shoulder or back injuries.
